Helena Scharf, NCLMBT #19545, graduated from Healing Arts Institute in Fort Collins, CO in 2019. She received a B.S. in Health and Exercise Science from Colorado State University in 2018. She is also a certified yoga instructor and level-one Reiki practitioner (Holistic Yoga School, 2018).
Helena strives to incorporate her background knowledge of health and wellness gained during her undergraduate studies into a holistic approach. She believes that the combination of modern medicine with ancient, holistic medicine creates the most positive change within the body. Helena’s intention with massage therapy is to help others improve their health and well-being through healing touch, finding their own unique path to a healthier, happier lifestyle.
Helena’s approach to deep tissue: Helena begins every massage by evaluating her client’s posture and taking into account their daily activities. With deep tissue, she will warm the tissues as needed and gradually increase pressure to the client’s “edge” (a point of discomfort that is tolerable through breath work, and soon becomes pleasant). Each client will have a different pressure preference and tolerance. Deep tissue should never cause pain, but some discomfort is not uncommon. Helena believes that communication is key for deep tissue. Keeping the client in the loop allows them to receive the most benefits from deep tissue massage.
