Kate Lloyd, NCLMBT# 16566, graduated from Kneaded Energy School of Massage in Greensboro, NC. There she learned about UPR (Unconditional Positive Regard). This is the heart of the therapeutic relationship she has with her clients and describes holding a place for someone and accepting them for who they are right there in that moment.
The mantra that she carries into her sessions came from one of her textbooks :: ” I think I would go so far as to say that fixing and helping may often be the works of the ego, and service the work of the soul. When you help you see life as weak. When you fix you see life as broken. When you serve you see life as whole.”
I see massage as work of service. Touch is one of the most basic human needs. I feel honored to be a massage therapist.
Kate’s background had been in the medical/ research field. She has many years of experience with human and animal Anatomy and Physiology. She worked in a mixed animal practice for 8 years and that experience taught her to fine tune her observation skills given animals can not verbalize what is happening for them. During that time, she began working with a holistic veterinarian at the practice and was introduced to chiropractic, acupuncture and herbal medicine.
Kate’s Deep Tissue Approach
Kate’s approach to massage begins with evaluating posture and gait. She approaches the musculature and the body mindfully and intuitively. She warms the tissues and from there gently increases pressure as needed whether it is a relaxation or deep tissue treatment.
