Katy’s Deep Tissue Approach: I don’t believe that pain in massage is necessary to improve your condition. The body may guard in response to pain, making it more challenging to reach the deeper layers of muscle tissue. Communication during session is integral to my work and key between therapist, client, and the body itself.I begin with lighter strokes to warm up and assess the tissues. I approach the tissue slowly and with specific focus to access the deeper layers with deep, gliding pressure along the length of the muscle fibers, broad strokes, friction, and deep compressions.
